Means of Communicating

With so many people you meet throughout your life, there are only so many that actually remain in your life. Sometimes you don't really know all the people that truly are your friends until they are put to the test. In high school, I had several friends, but it wasn't until college that I realized who my true friends were. The distance challenged some of my friendships. I have a certain number of people that will call me randomly or on a regular basis to see how I am doing. Mind you I also receive several text messages from different people throughout the day but only certain people actually call me to know more about my day. I feel like you can only say so much in a text message, where as with a phone call you can just talk a long time and better explain things. It’s also comforting to hear my friend’s voice on the other line.

I know I have had arguments with some friends because we were talking through text messages and things were misunderstood. It wasn’t until we finally called each other that we were able to fix things between us. Sometimes tone is very important in a message. These days with school and crazy schedules, most the time it is just easier to text message someone throughout the day but a phone call from one of my awesome friends always makes me feel good. It makes me feel that they actually do care about me and how I am doing. I have a very close friend that I only have known for a few years. We met while working at Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort. We only really saw each other that summer but we have stayed in touch since then. She will be another story.
