It's True What They Say

The summer after high school, I decided to branch out from my little town and take a job in New Braunfels. I took a job at the famous Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort in the retail department. I did not want to work around food again so I figured the retail department would be better. Throughout the training videos, it described how working at Schlitterbahn was one of the best summer jobs. It claimed that you would meet so many people and make friends that would last a lifetime. They didn't lie about the second part. That first summer I worked at the bahn, I met so many great people. One of them I especially keep in touch with as much as possible. She was one of my supervisors and we started to hang out outside of work with other co-workers. We would go out dancing, to dinner, or simply hang out.

Whenever we worked together, we talked and got to know one another. We talked about all kinds of things, from family, work and relationships. Even though there was a age difference of 4 or 5 years between us, we became close friends. We enjoyed each other's company and always had a fun time together. There have been many times where we would end up laughing so hard that we cried. We could be so goofy together, it was as if we had known each other for years.

It was over two years ago now that we met each other. We attend different universities and hardly see each other now, but we still constantly keep in touch. We call each other every week at least and talk about what is going on in our lives and what we plan to do. Even though we don't know half the people the other one talks about, we still listen and like to know what is going on. We are still able to give each other advice or support on decisions. We mainly are just there for each other whenever we need to be. That's the most important part of our friendship.
